Help Local Mountain Biking in the East Bay
BTCEB was formed in 1987, and helped create the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) in 1988. The work of BTCEB is essential in keeping trails open for mountain biking. By joining BTCEB you'll be supporting grass roots mountain bike advocacy, meet other mountain bikers, and learn about great trails to ride.
STAY INFORMED with our weekly electronic newsletter, BTCEB Buzz with news articles, action alerts, and event announcements.
VOLUNTEER FOR TRAIL WORK - it is sweat equity. Land managers appreciate reliable, competent volunteers.
COME OUT AN RIDE. We have a group ride calendar with over 500 members and host a monthly Gala Ride the 2nd Saturday of the month. We have a Women's only ride, Ride Like a Girl, the 1st Saturday of the month and Youth Mountain Bike Adventures rides from May through October.
BTCEB Gala Ride - 2nd Saturday of the month
Please join us for our monthly Gala ride the 2nd Saturday of every month for a casually paced social group ride at one of the many great parks in the east bay. Check out our Group Ride Calendar for the location of the next Gala. We begin meeting at 9:00 am and hit the trail promptly at 9:30 am.
This no-drop ride is fun and includes most levels - both men and women. Most importantly, we ride together and find camaraderie in the sport. Rides generally last 2 to 3 hours.
Ride is free and open to the public and led by experienced local mountain bikers familiar with the trails.
Afterwards we regroup for snacks and socializing.

Ride Like a Girl - 1st Saturday of the month
We have a group ride for women only, the first Saturday of the month. The emphasis of these rides is about having fun and to meet other women who love to ride. We have rides geared towards all level of riders with experience leaders.
We normally begin meeting at 9:00 am and hit the trail promptly at 9:30 am. For info and location on the next ride visit our Ride Calendar. If you have questions or want to help please email Karen.
Youth Mountain Bike Adventures
At Youth Mountain Bike Adventures we take a group of inner-city kids on what is sometimes their first visit to an East Bay Park. We teach them the basics of safe mountain biking, provide a healthy lunch, and give them a helmet and a T-Shirt to take home. More importantly these kids get a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction from mastering the trails and the hills and their bikes, which we also maintain and provide.
Please come ride with us and have some fun showing these kids a good time. Every kid gets an adult BTCEB member guide who accompanies them throughout the ride. The guide explains the basics of trail riding and also shows them the beauties of the parks where we ride.
We always welcome and encourage riders (BTCEB members or not) to come and ride with us to learn about the program and see how much fun we have. You have to be a current dues paying member of BTCEB to be a "guide" for one of our youth riders. Please RSVP on our Group Ride Calendar.
EBRPD Master Plan 2011 survey results available
The East Bay Regional Park District is preparing an update of the Park District's Master Plan, a policy document that guides the District in future expansion of parks, trails, and services. The District provides and manages the regional parks for Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The District manages 65 regional parks, over 108,000 acres of open space, and 1,200 miles of trails.
Its Master Plan defines the vision and mission of the Park District and sets priorities for at least the next decade. It will also determine trail opportunities for cyclists.
Recently the District conducted telephone and on-line surveys where 400 and 6,294 participants, respectively, provided their opinions to the Park District. The results of these two public surveys are now available on the District web site.
The Master Plan update process will continue through 2011 and 2012 with many future opportunities for your input. Check EBRPD website often for upcoming town hall and public meetings, and receive upcoming information through e-mail by sending a request to info@ebparks.org.
